SPD Canada Foundation started with me, late nights in the basement of our home, after everyone had gone to sleep, searching for answers about our son.  Through this search, I learned about Sensory Processing Disorder.

When I started this journey, I knew that for every door I opened, no matter how difficult, I would work to ensure it stayed open for other families.

This site is for you.

I hope you find something here that helps – that brings a ray of hope and a sense of empowerment.  It will be the strong voice that comes from all of us that will change the way others look at children with Sensory Processing Disorder.

Lori Fankhanel
Founder, SPD Canada

Sensory Processing Disorder Canada Foundation grew out of Lori’s search. In October 2006 a group of like minded people – parents, professionals, and others –  came together in our first organizational meeting. From that and following meetings, we have formalized our organization.

Sensory Processing Disorder Canada Foundation is a non-profit organization made up of parents and professionals, working together to:

  • Support and empower individuals and families impacted by sensory processing disorders.
  • Educate families, professionals and the public about sensory processing disorders.
  • Promote collaborative relationships between families and professionals with respect to the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with sensory processing disorders.
  • Provide opportunities to share and build knowledge about sensory processing disorders.

We offer parent support and workshops, as well as providing other information and support through our website.
